Facts about the Internet of Things:
One of the first connected devices was a Coca-Cola vending machine installed at Carnegie — Mellon University in 1982. The machine had the ability to transmit data on the number of bottles it contained and its overall condition.
McKinsey estimates the benefits of IoT will be up to $11 trillion by 2025.
The Internet of Things (IoT) — is actually a stage in the development of the Internet that came in 2008, when the number of connected devices overtook the number of people connected to the Internet. It is estimated that by 2020, the number of connected Internet of Things will reach 30 billion.
Speaking of the Internet of Things usually refers to the following set of technologies:
- Sensors, sensors, tags and other end devices
- data network and communication protocols (wi-fi, Bluetooth, LPWAN, BLE, Ethernet, NB IoT, etc.) to enable end devices to communicate with the platform
